Heatherdale Wholesome Goods

Our families have worked the land for generations - first in Ireland and Scotland, now in Canada. Farming requires hope and perseverance; constant faith that those tiny seeds will bring good yields. The grains and seeds used for Heatherdale's products are nurtured in fields which roll down to the red cliffs and sandy beaches of eastern Prince Edward Island. In the past, we allowed others to take on the important work of preparing our harvest for your kitchen. With the care that goes into our sustainable farming practices, it was only natural we expand to offer a pure, nutritional line of Certified Organic wholesome goods. Sibling co-founders of Heatherdale Wholesome Goods Will & Rosemond each bring expertise in different areas of growing and preparing food. Each of our products will provide a taste experience linked to the unique micro-climate of the field and the weather - we...

Terra Beata Cranberries

Founded in 1998 by David and Evelyn Ernst, Terra Beata cranberry farm is now the ‘go-to’ business for lovely, versatile Nova-Scotian dried apples and berries. Their farm, just outside Lunenburg, NS, has a ‘Bog Store’ that’s open year-round to customers who’d like to pop in for a look around their farm and to purchase some of their yummy, healthy pre-packaged dried fruits, frozen fruits, and pure fruit juices! That said, the food they produce no local secret; Terra Beata ships to overseas markets and is renowned for their high-quality products. Made with Local uses Terra Beata dried cranberries, dried blueberries, and dried apples. They add no sulphites or oils to their dried fruits, and use a fraction of the sugar, only lightly-sweetening their tantalizingly-tangy cranberries before delivering them to our door!

Cosman and Whidden Honey

Tom Cosman and Mary Ann Whidden have been keeping bees and making sweet, sweet Nova Scotian honey for decades! They began experimenting with a couple of hives, just as a hobby, in 1977 and now own many, spanning 50 different farms in 4 Nova Scotia counties. Their bees pollinate orchards, blueberry bushes, and flowers in the valleys, meadows and rolling hills of rural Nova Scotia. Cosman and Whidden is very much a family affair, with all of Tom and Mary Ann’s children playing a role in the beekeeping and retail sales roles. They can be met in person each week at Halifax’s Seaport Farmer’s Market, selling their honey to locals and visitors alike. Made with Local uses Cosman and Whidden liquid honey; they also produce creamed honey and honey in the comb. All of their products are pure, unpasteurized, and act as a 100% natural preservative in all of our bars.
